Used regular bicycle – 1-month warranty.

WARRANTY TERMS FOR USED BICYCLES

Store warranty: 1 month (30 calendar days)

1. General provisions

1.1. Facebike NL provides the buyer with an additional commercial warranty of 30 calendar days for used bicycles purchased from our store.

1.2. The warranty period begins on the date the bicycle is actually handed over to the buyer.

1.3. The bicycle is sold as a used product that has previously been in service. The buyer understands that it may show normal signs of use, cosmetic imperfections, and a certain degree of component wear.

1.4. At the time of purchase, the buyer is given the opportunity to inspect the bicycle, check its technical condition, and take a test ride.

1.5. Any characteristics, damage, or defects known to the seller must be disclosed to the buyer before the sales contract is concluded.

1.6. The additional store warranty applies independently of the buyer’s statutory rights under Dutch law. The expiry of the 30-day warranty period does not automatically end the buyer’s rights under the statutory guarantee (wettelijke garantie).

2. What the additional store warranty covers

2.1. During the 30 calendar days, Facebike NL will remedy free of charge defects that arise under normal use and fall within the terms of this additional warranty.

2.2. The warranty covers internal mechanical failures of the bicycle’s main components, provided they have not been caused by:

  • normal wear and tear;
  • mechanical damage;
  • improper use;
  • an accident or fall;
  • intervention by third parties;
  • failure to follow operating instructions.

2.3. Where a warranty claim is accepted, Facebike NL will arrange for the defect to be remedied free of charge, including the necessary spare parts and labour.

2.4. The method of remedy will be determined based on the nature of the defect, technical feasibility, and the buyer’s applicable rights.

3. Parts and materials excluded from the additional commercial warranty

As the bicycle is a used product, the additional 30-day store warranty does not cover normal wear from use or routine replacement of consumable items.

Such items include:

3.1. Braking system

  • Brake pads.
  • Brake discs and rims to the extent of normal wear.
  • Brake cables and housings.
  • Brake adjustment required as a result of normal use.

3.2. Drivetrain

  • Bicycle chain.
  • Cassette and freewheel.
  • Front and rear sprockets.
  • Gear cables.
  • Worn components of the gear-shifting system.

3.3. Wheels and tyres

  • Tyres.
  • Inner tubes.
  • Punctures and tyre damage occurring during use.
  • Normal tread wear.
  • Spoke-tension adjustment and wheel truing where required due to subsequent use or external impact.

3.4. Other consumable items

  • Handlebar grips.
  • Pedals to the extent of normal wear.
  • Saddle and saddle covering.
  • Bulbs and replaceable lighting components.
  • Accessory batteries.
  • Lubricants.
  • Other components that require periodic replacement due to normal use.

Important: the exclusions above relate to normal wear and tear under the additional commercial warranty only. They do not exclude the buyer’s statutory rights if the component already had a defect at the time of sale that was inconsistent with what the buyer could reasonably expect from the bicycle purchased.

4. Cases not covered by the store warranty

The additional commercial warranty does not cover faults or damage caused by:

4.1. A fall, road traffic accident, or collision.

4.2. Mechanical damage to the frame, fork, wheels, or other components after handover to the buyer.

4.3. Improper use or loading beyond permitted limits.

4.4. Use outside the bicycle’s intended purpose, including extreme riding, jumping, or sporting loads for which the bicycle was not designed.

4.5. Incorrect repairs carried out by the buyer, modifications, or improper installation of parts after the sale.

4.6. Damage from improper storage, aggressive chemicals, or other external influences unrelated to the bicycle’s original condition.

4.7. Normal wear and tear of parts and materials.

4.8. Cosmetic defects, scratches, scuffs, or other characteristics disclosed to the buyer before the sale and duly agreed to.

These exclusions do not apply where Dutch law entitles the buyer to a free remedy because the bicycle does not conform to the sales contract.

5. Procedure for warranty requests

5.1. If a defect is discovered, the buyer must contact Facebike NL and describe the problem.

5.2. To help process the request more quickly, the buyer is advised to provide:

  • Order number or proof of purchase.
  • Date of purchase of the bicycle.
  • Description of the defect.
  • Photos or video of the problem, where possible.

5.3. Facebike NL will arrange an inspection of the bicycle to establish the nature and cause of the defect.

5.4. If the defect is covered by the additional store warranty or the statutory guarantee, repair will be carried out free of charge, including necessary expenses that the seller must bear under the law.

5.5. If it is established that the defect is covered neither by the additional warranty nor by the seller’s statutory responsibility, Facebike NL may offer a paid repair.

5.6. Any paid diagnostic or repair work will be agreed with the buyer in advance. Costs that the seller must bear under the law will not be passed on to the buyer.

5.7. Warranty repairs will be completed within a reasonable time, taking into account the complexity of the repair and availability of spare parts, without significant inconvenience to the buyer.

6. Maintenance and buyer responsibilities

6.1. The buyer must use the bicycle for its intended purpose and in accordance with general rules for safe operation.

6.2. The buyer is responsible for regular maintenance, cleaning, lubrication, checking tyre pressure, and monitoring the condition of naturally wearing parts.

6.3. It is recommended to check regularly that the brakes work and that the chain, tyres, wheels, and other safety-critical components remain in good condition.

6.4. Routine maintenance, replacement of consumables, and adjustments associated with normal wear are not included in the additional commercial warranty unless otherwise agreed.

6.5. Failure to carry out routine maintenance does not in itself automatically extinguish the buyer’s statutory guarantee rights.

7. Buyer’s statutory guarantee

7.1. Independently of Facebike NL’s additional 30-day warranty, the buyer retains rights under Dutch law concerning conformity of goods with the sales contract (wettelijke garantie / conformiteit).

7.2. The statutory guarantee also applies to used bicycles.

7.3. Whether the bicycle conforms to the contract is assessed with regard to:

  • The age of the bicycle.
  • Its purchase price.
  • Its overall technical condition.
  • Previous use and the known degree of wear.
  • Information provided by the seller before sale.
  • The buyer’s reasonable expectations of the product.

7.4. In the Netherlands there is no single fixed statutory guarantee period for all bicycles.

7.5. Nothing in these warranty terms excludes or restricts the mandatory statutory rights of consumers.
