1. General provisions

1.1. Facebike NL provides an additional 12-month commercial warranty with every new non-electric bicycle purchased from the store. The period begins on the date the bicycle is delivered to the purchaser.

1.2. This warranty covers normal private use in accordance with the intended purpose, operating instructions and maintenance guidelines.

1.3. This commercial warranty is additional to, and does not limit, the consumer’s statutory rights under Dutch law (legal conformity warranty). Dutch statutory warranty rights do not automatically end after 12 months.

1.4. Before purchase, Facebike NL provides relevant information about the bicycle type, proper use and any specific technical instructions.

2. Scope of the commercial warranty

2.1. For 12 months Facebike NL will remedy, free of charge, material, manufacturing or assembly defects covered by this additional warranty under normal use.

2.2. Depending on the cause, this may include defects affecting the frame, fork, steering system, mechanical drivetrain, wheel hubs and other fixed components.

2.3. For an eligible claim, necessary parts and labour are included. Facebike NL will assess the fault and offer repair or another appropriate remedy, subject to the consumer’s statutory rights.

2.4. Additional manufacturer warranties may apply. Facebike NL remains responsible to the consumer for the statutory conformity warranty.

3. Mandatory complimentary first inspection: days 25–45

3.1. Under the Facebike NL maintenance schedule, the new bicycle must be presented for a free initial inspection (“zero service”) between calendar days 25 and 45 after purchase/delivery, inclusive.

3.2. For this scheduled complimentary service, the customer must bring the bicycle to the Facebike NL store in Groningen and collect it afterwards. An appointment must be arranged in advance.

3.3. Where applicable, the initial inspection includes checks and adjustments of brakes, gears, cable tension, chain, fasteners, wheels/spokes, tyre pressure and general safety. Wear-related replacements or additional work will be discussed first; parts not covered by warranty may incur charges only with prior approval.

3.4. If the customer cannot attend within this period, they should contact Facebike NL promptly to arrange a suitable alternative. If Facebike NL cannot offer an appointment within the period, another date will be agreed without adverse consequences for the commercial warranty.

3.5. Missing this inspection does not automatically void either the commercial or statutory warranty. Only where there is a demonstrable causal connection between inadequate maintenance and the particular damage may this be relevant when assessing that claim. Statutory rights remain unaffected.

3.6. The customer-delivery requirement applies to this voluntarily provided scheduled service. It does not restrict the seller’s legal duty to remedy a valid lack of conformity free of charge and without significant inconvenience, including transport costs where legally required.

4. Paid annual service after 12 months

4.1. Facebike NL requires an annual maintenance service at approximately 12 months after purchase under its service schedule and recommends further servicing according to usage and the manufacturer’s instructions.

4.2. Standard annual service prices are €65 for all types of regular city bicycles and €85 for all types of mountain, road and sports bicycles.

4.3. These are prices for the standard service. Replacement parts, exceptional repairs and additional work are not automatically included; any extra cost will be discussed and approved before the work is carried out.

4.4. This annual service is paid, is performed by appointment and requires the customer to bring the bicycle to the store for routine maintenance.

4.5. Not purchasing this paid service does not remove statutory warranty rights. It does not extend the 12-month commercial warranty. Proven maintenance-related causation may be relevant to a particular damage claim.

5. Wear-and-tear items and exclusions

5.1. The additional warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, routine maintenance or adjustments needed solely as a result of normal use.

5.2. Examples of wear items include brake pads, brake rotors where worn, brake and gear cables, chain, cassette/freewheel, sprockets, tyres, inner tubes, grips, saddle covering, pedals and lubricants.

5.3. Damage caused by falls, collisions, misuse, overloading, unauthorised modifications, incorrectly performed repairs or insufficient maintenance is excluded from the additional warranty insofar as the relevant cause actually led to that damage.

5.4. Cosmetic damage occurring after delivery due to external causes is generally excluded from the additional warranty.

5.5. None of these exclusions affects statutory remedies if a component failed to meet reasonable consumer expectations at delivery.

6. Use, maintenance and safety

6.1. The buyer must use the bicycle for its intended purpose and maintain brakes, tyres, lighting, chain and fasteners in a safe condition.

6.2. In case of unusual noises, defective brakes, cracks or other potentially dangerous defects, the buyer should stop riding and contact Facebike NL.

6.3. Maintenance and repairs should be recorded, where possible including date, mileage, work completed and parts used.

7. Claims procedure

7.1. The purchaser should report a problem promptly to Facebike NL and provide proof of purchase or an order number, a description, and photographs or video where helpful.

7.2. Facebike NL assesses whether the complaint falls under the commercial or statutory warranty. Costs that the seller is legally required to pay will not be charged to the consumer.

7.3. If a claim is not covered, the customer will receive a quotation in advance for any paid inspection or repair. Chargeable work is performed only after consent.

7.4. A valid warranty claim will be handled within a reasonable period and without significant inconvenience. If repair is not possible or appropriate, other statutory remedies remain available.

8. Statutory warranty and consumer rights

8.1. The consumer retains all rights to goods that conform to the contract under the Dutch Civil Code.

8.2. Expected product life depends, among other factors, on bicycle type, price, quality, representations made and normal use. The Netherlands does not impose a general fixed one-year statutory warranty limit.

8.3. Nothing in this document reduces the right to free repair or replacement and other legal remedies for lack of conformity.
